Forever Torah – a Tree of Life

We have grown up being taught “the law of Moses has been done away with in Yeshua when He was crucified”. Is this true? The next verse should make anyone wonder.

O יהוה, my strength and my stronghold and my refuge, in the day of distress the nations shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, “Our fathers have inherited only falsehood, futility, and there is no value in them.” Jer 16:19

This verse does not mean that your specific parent deliberately taught you lies, however, lies have been built one upon another over the 6,000 years of creation. Satan is the father of lies. He has been hard at work and had 6,000 years of generational lies he has built upon. Can you imagine how entangled everything is now?

Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, And the man who gets understanding; For the gain from it is better Than gain from silver, And its increase than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, And all your delights are not comparable to her. Length of days is in her right hand, Riches and esteem in her left hand. Her ways are pleasant ways, And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those taking hold of her, And blessed are all who retain her. Prov 3:13-18

Here we can clearly see how wisdom is called a tree of life.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is winning lives is wise. Prov 11:30

Now the fruit of the righteous is called a tree of life. This is a huge statement to make so we need to ensure that we understand this correctly.

The Torah of the wise is a fountain of life, Turning one away from the snares of death. Prov 13:14

The Torah is called a fountain of life. In the end we will see that the Righteous is Wise because they walk in Torah which is a Tree of Life. They are linked. To be wise therefore is to know and do Torah.

The wise in heart accepts commands, But one with foolish lips falls. Prov 10:8
Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does them, shall be like a wise man who built his house on the rock, Matt 7:24

How long is “forever”? Does “forever” have an ending? More clearly, does “forever” end with Yeshua? May the following Scriptures shed light on the matter.

Oh, that they had such a heart in them, to fear Me and to guard all My commands always, so that it might be well with them and with their children forever! Deu 5:29
And you shall love יהוה your Elohim and guard His charge: even His laws, and His right-rulings, and His commands, always. Deu 11:1
The works of His hands are truth and right-ruling, All His orders are trustworthy, They are upheld forever and ever, Performed in truth and straightness. Ps 111:7-8
That I might guard Your Torah continually, Forever and ever; Ps 119:44
Your commands make me wiser than my enemies; For it is ever before me. Ps 119:98
For the earth has been defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the Torot (commands), changed the law, broken the everlasting covenant. Isa 24:5

Was the Torah there before Mt Sinai? Abraham obeyed Yahuah before the Torah was given to Moses.

“Because Abraham obeyed My voice and guarded My Charge: My commands, My laws, and My Torot (commands).” Gen 26:5

The next Scripture is quite clear.

I have inclined my heart to do Your laws Forever, to the end. I have hated doubting thoughts, But I have loved Your Torah. You are my hiding place and my shield; I have waited for Your word. Turn away from me, you evil-doers, For I observe the commands of my Elohim! Support me according to Your word, That I might live; And put me not to shame Because of my expectation. Sustain me, that I might be saved, And always look to Your laws. You have made light of all those Who stray from Your laws, For falsehood is their deceit. Ps 119:112-118

You may say that these are all from the Old Covenant. Let us look at the New Covenant.

As for you, let that stay in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning stays in you, you also shall stay in the Son and in the Father. 1 Joh 2:24

What did we hear from the beginning? The Torah. Let us close with some words of Yeshua.

Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete. Matt 5:17

Until next time.

Shalom.

Mieke
