As we have seen in the study “Trusting Yahuah: Yahuah wants to be trusted”, the people tested Yahuah.
And Yahuah said, “I shall forgive, according to your word, but truly, as I live and all the earth is filled with the esteem of Yahuah, for none of these men who have seen My esteem and the signs which I did in Mitsrayim and in the wilderness, and have tried Me now these ten times, and have disobeyed My voice, shall see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor any of those who scorned Me see it.
Yahuah said that Israel tested Him 10 times. Let us look where and when they tested Him.
- At the Red Sea with Pharaoh behind them ~ Exodus 14:10-12
- At Mara with bitter water ~ Exodus 15:22-24
- The Desert of Sin when they hungered ~ Exodus 16:1-3
- The Desert of Sin with the manna ~ Exodus 16:19-20
- The Desert of Sin with the Sabbath ~ Exodus 16:27-30
- At Rephidim for water ~ Exodus 17:1-4
- Mt Sinai with the Golden Calf ~ Exodus 32:1-35
- At Taberah when raging against Yahuah ~ Numbers 11:1-3
- At Kibroth Hattaavah for quail ~ Numbers 11:4-34
- At Kadesh rejecting the Promised Land ~ Numbers 14:1-3
We will take a closer look at each incident above but will do so each in its own post. In this post we will look at the first incident.
1. At the Red Sea with Pharaoh behind them ~ Exodus 14:10-12
And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Yisra’el lifted their eyes and saw the Mitsrites coming up after them. And they were greatly afraid, so the children of Yisra’el cried out to Yahuah. And they said to Mosheh, “Did you take us away to die in the wilderness because there are no graves in Mitsrayim? What is this you have done to us, to bring us up out of Mitsrayim? Is this not the word that we spoke to you in Mitsrayim, saying, ‘Leave us alone and let us serve the Mitsrites?’ For it would have been better for us to serve the Mitsrites than to die in the wilderness.” Exo 14:10-12
At first when I read this I could not believe how they could doubt Yahuah when they have just experienced the miracle of being protected during the plagues. This can be dealt with in a different study. Then I watched a video about the Exodus out of Egypt and suddenly realized that I did not have a clue what the people were faced with. This truly was a fearful sight they saw. Here is the video, watch it and as you do place yourself in their shoes and think how you would have felt not knowing how Yahuah was going to miraculously protect you. I suddenly had sympathy towards them and could understand why they were worried.
Imagine going through that narrow and deep way through the mountains with Pharaoh’s army right behind you then being faced with the deep Red Sea right in front of you with nowhere to go. Humanly speaking. I am sure that if we were to be in such a situation that it will not be as easy to trust as one thinks.
This is where Israel gathered by the sea just before the Red Sea Crossing. This is the 3D view. This can be quite an intimidating scenario to find yourself in. I am emphasizing on the severity of the situation for a reason. I want us to realize that as we work our way through the ten times in which Israel tested Yahuah, that if we truly are the generation to see Yeshua return then we will have intimidating and fearful sights to live through ourselves. May we learn from these and be comforted and motivated to remain strong in our trust in Yahuah. May we start building on our trust in Yahuah right now.
The Red Sea crossing is symbolism of the water baptism.
For I do not wish you to be ignorant, brothers, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were immersed into Mosheh in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed, and the Rock was Messiah. 1 Co 10:1-4
Once you are born again you need to leave Egypt and be baptized.
Until next time.
