“End they repented not…”

Geloof is ‘n proses.

Shalom

Blessings in Obedience

Lev 26

1  ‘Do not make idols for yourselves, and do not set up a carved image or a pillar for yourselves, and do not place a stone image in your land, to bow down to it. For I am יהוה your Elohim.

2  ‘Guard My Sabbaths and reverence My set-apart place. I am יהוה.

3  ‘If you walk in My laws and guard My commands, and shall do them,

BLESSINGS:

4  then I shall give you rain in its season, and the land shall yield its crops, and the trees of the field yield their fruit.

5  ‘And your threshing shall last till the time of the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last till the time of sowing. And you shall eat your bread until you have enough, and shall dwell in your land safely.

6  ‘And I shall give peace in the land, and you shall lie down and no one make you afraid. And I shall clear the land of evil beasts, and not let the sword go through your land.

7  ‘And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you.

8  ‘And five of you shall pursue a hundred, and a hundred of you pursue ten thousand. And your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.

9  ‘And I shall turn to you and make you fruitful, and shall increase you, and shall establish My covenant with you.

10  ‘And you shall eat the old supply, and clear out the old because of the new.

11  ‘And I shall set My Dwelling Place in your midst, and My being shall not reject you.

12  ‘And I shall walk in your midst, and shall be your Elohim, and you shall be My people.

13  ‘I am יהוה your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim, from being their slaves. And I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk upright.

IF we walk in Yahweh’s Torah THEN we will receive the promises attached to it by being blessed in obedience.

Next we will see what happens when we DO NOT obey Yahweh’s Torah, His commands.

Until next time.

“I AM sent you”

Exodus 3

13 And Mosheh said to Elohim, “See, when I come to the children of Yisra’ĕl and say to them, ‘The Elohim of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His Name?’ what shall I say to them?

I have always learned that the Father told Moses that His Name to be given to Israel was “I AM” but recently I realized that this is not what the Father said His Name was.

This did not go unnoticed due to translation issues but rather due to a deliberate replacement of the Father’s Name with “LORD” in modern translations. The Father’s Name appears right through the Scriptures when you read the Hebrew text and should also appear in the modern texts of other languages. Let us look what really happened at Mt Sinai.

14 And Elohim said to Mosheh, “I am that which I am.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘I am has sent me to you.’

Take note that the above statement does NOT say what His Name is. The Father only told Moses what he must say to Israel. Often we need to read the previous or next vers in order to get the context of something.

15 And Elohim said further to Mosheh, “Thus you are to say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘יהוה Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Aḇraham, the Elohim of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and this is My remembrance to all generations.

Yahweh the Elohim of your Fathers. Yahweh is the Name that the Father gave Moses to give Israel. It is Yahweh which is the Name of the Father FOREVER. Not I am. However this was missed because of translations which replaced the Name with the word “LORD” and because “LORD” is a rank and not a name it was assumed that “I AM” was the Name. However this is not the case.

Let us look at the KJV for an example;

15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

“The Lord God” of your fathers. Gone is the Name of the Father. Let us look at the Hebrew to see whether we can see the Name of the Father in there.

Exo 3v15 KJV

Strong’s reference number H3068 is for the Hebrew יהוה .

Exo 3v15 HEBm

When I discovered this it felt like I discovered a pot of gold!!! HalleluYah!

Let us look again at what the Father told Moses to say His Name is.

Thus you are to say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘יהוה Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Aḇraham, the Elohim of Yitsḥaq, and the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and this is My remembrance to all generations.’

I pray that this study is a blessing to everyone!

Until next time.

Yeshua’s Arrest

Matthew 26

46 Rise, let us go. See, he who delivers Me up has come near.

47 And while He was still speaking, see, Yehuḏah, one of the twelve, with a large crowd with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.

48 And he who was delivering Him up gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, it is He, seize Him.”

49 And going straight up to יהושע he said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.

50 And יהושע said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on יהושע and seized Him.

51 And look, one of those with יהושע put out his hand and drew his sword, and striking the servant of the high priest he cut off his ear.

52 Then יהושע said to him, “Return your sword to its place, for all who take the sword shall die by the sword.

53 “Or do you think that I am not able to pray to My Father now, and He shall provide Me with more than twelve legions of messengers?

54 How then would the Scriptures be filled that it has to be this way?

55 In that hour יהושע said to the crowds, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to arrest Me? Daily I sat with you, teaching in the Set-apart Place, and you did not seize Me.

56 But all this came to be, so that the Scriptures of the prophets might be filled. Then all the taught ones left Him and fled.

57 And those who had seized יהושע led Him away to Qayapha the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.

The crowd came from the chief priests and elders.

Mark 14

42 Rise up, let us go. See, he who is delivering Me up has drawn near.

43 And immediately, while He was still speaking, Yehuḏah, one of the twelve, with a large crowd with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

44 And the one who was delivering Him up had given them a signal, saying, “Whomever I kiss, it is He – seize Him and lead Him away safely.”

45 And coming, going straight up to Him, he said to Him, “Rabbi, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.

46 And they laid their hands on Him and seized Him.

47 And one of those standing by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

48 And יהושע answering, said to them, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs, to take Me?

49 Daily I was with you in the Set-apart Place teaching, and you did not seize Me. But let the Scriptures be filled.

50 And they all left Him and fled.

All Yeshua’s taught ones (disciples) left Him and fled.

Luke 22

47 And while He was still speaking, see: a crowd! And he who was called Yehuḏah, one of the twelve, was going before them and came near to יהושע to kiss Him.

48 And יהושע said to him, “Yehuḏah, do you deliver up the Son of Aḏam with a kiss?”

49 And those around Him, seeing what was about to take place, said to Him, “Master, shall we strike with the sword?”

50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.

51 But יהושע answering, said, “Allow it this far.” And touching his ear He healed him.

52 And יהושע said to those who had come against Him, the chief priests and captains of the Set-apart Place and the elders, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

53 While I was with you daily in the Set-apart Place, you did not lay hands on Me. But this is your hour and the authority of darkness.

54 And having seized Him, they led Him and brought Him to the house of the high priest. And Kĕpha was following at a distance.

Looking carefully at the differences between these accounts of the arrest of Yeshua we note some key points in the next account.

John 18

Having said these words, יהושע went out with His taught ones beyond the Qiḏron torrent, where there was a garden, into which He and His taught ones entered.

And Yehuḏah, who delivered Him up, also knew the place, because יהושע often met there with His taught ones.

Yehuḏah, then, having received the company of soldiers, and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, and torches, and weapons.

יהושע, then, knowing all that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, “Whom do you seek?”

They answered Him, “יהושע of Natsareth.” יהושע said to them, “I am.” And Yehuḏah, who delivered Him up, was also standing with them.

When, therefore, He said to them, “I am,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

Once more He asked them, “Whom do you seek?” And they said, “יהושע of Natsareth.”

יהושע answered, “I said to you that I am. If, then, you seek Me, allow these to go,”

in order that the word might be filled which He spoke, “Of those whom You have given Me, I have lost none.”

10 Then Shim‛on Kĕpha, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. And the servant’s name was Meleḵ.

11 Then יהושע said to Kĕpha, “Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?”

12 Then the company of soldiers and the commander and the officers of the Yehuḏim seized יהושע and bound Him,

13 and they led Him away to Ḥanan first, for he was the father-in-law of Qayapha who was high priest that year.

In John we see quite a few interesting observations.

  • Yeshua communicated with the crowd
  • When Yeshua said “I am” they fell BACKWARD – when you fall when touched by the set apart Spirit then you will fall FORWARD in respect and worship and NOT backward.
  • Yeshua requested that the allow His taught ones (disciples) to leave
  • Shimon Kepha was the one to draw the sword
  • The name of the servant who’s ear was cut off is Melek which means “king” in Hebrew

Next we will see Yeshua’s walk for our salvation.

Until next time.

Yeshua’s Prayer

Remember as we work through this study that Yeshua was fully human as well and therefore He experienced trauma the same way as we would. We will look through each of the Gospel’s accounts as to see a clear picture of what happened.

Matthew 26

36 Then יהושע came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the taught ones, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”

37 And He took with Him Kĕpha and the two sons of Zaḇdai, and He began to be grieved and deeply distressed.

38 Then He said to them, “My being is exceedingly grieved, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”

39 And going forward a little, He fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I desire, but as You desire.”

40 And He came to the taught ones and found them asleep, and said to Kĕpha, “So, were you not able to watch with Me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into trial. The spirit indeed is eager, but the flesh is weak.

42 Again He went away, a second time, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is impossible for this to pass unless I drink it, let Your desire be done.”

43 And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.

44 And He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

45 Then He came to His taught ones and said to them, “Still sleeping and taking rest? See, the hour has come near, and the Son of Aḏam is delivered up into the hands of sinners.

46 Rise, let us go. See, he who delivers Me up has come near.

Mark 14

32 And they came to a place called Gethsemane. And He said to His taught ones, “Sit here while I pray.”

33 And He took with Him Kĕpha, and Ya‛aqoḇ, and Yoḥanan, and He began to be greatly amazed, and to be deeply distressed.

34 And He said to them, “My being is exceedingly grieved, even to death. Stay here and watch.”

35 And He went on a little, and fell on the ground, and was praying that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him.

36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all is possible for You. Make this cup pass from Me. Yet not what I desire, but what You desire.”

37 And He came and found them sleeping, and said to Kĕpha, “Shim‛on, are you sleeping? You were not able to watch one hour!

38 Watch and pray, lest you enter into trial. The spirit indeed is eager, but the flesh is weak.

39 And again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words.

40 And having returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. And they did not know what to answer Him.

41 And He came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come. See, the Son of Aḏam is being delivered up into the hands of the sinners.

42 Rise up, let us go. See, he who is delivering Me up has drawn near.

Luke 22

39 And coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, according to usage, and His taught ones also followed Him.

40 And coming to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you do not enter into trial.”

41 And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and falling on His knees He was praying,

42 saying, “Father, if it be Your counsel, remove this cup from Me. Yet not My desire, but let Yours be done.”

43 And there appeared a messenger from heaven to Him, strengthening Him.

44 And being in agony, He was praying more earnestly. And His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

45 And rising up from prayer, and coming to His taught ones, He found them sleeping from grief.

46 And He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into trial.”

From the three versions above we can see the following:

  • The place at the Mount of Olives where Yeshua went was called Gethsemany
  • Yeshua’s taught ones (disciples) followed Him
  • Yeshua stopped the taught ones and separated Himself from them and took only Shimon Kepha, Ya’acob and Yohanan with Him
  • Yeshua was a stone’s throw away from His taught ones
  • Yeshua went to pray three times
  • Yeshua came back to Kepha, Ya’acob and Yohanan three times and each time found them sleeping with grief
  • Yeshua wanted them to watch with Him for an hour (this would be a Scriptural hour and not 60 minutes)
  • Yeshua’s sweat became LIKE blood dropping down and does not seem to say that it actually became blood
  • A messenger (angel) came to strengthen Yeshua
  • The taught ones were supposed to remain awake as to not enter into trial
  • Yeshua asked whether that cup could pass Him but accepted Yahweh’s will

Yeshua knew what He was about to face.

In the next study we will look into the betrayal and arrest of Yeshua.

Until next time.

Yeshua’s Last Supper

There has been much confusion regarding the difference between the Last Supper and the Passover meal. Let us look at the various accounts in the Gospels.

Take note that the first day of unleavened bread as mentioned in the first verse that we see refers to Passover and not the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Matthew 26

17 And on the first day of Unleavened Bread the taught ones came to יהושע, saying to Him, “Where do You wish us to prepare for You to eat the Pĕsaḥ?

18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near. I am to perform the Pĕsaḥ at your house with My taught ones.” ’ ”

19 And the taught ones did as יהושע had ordered them, and prepared the Pĕsaḥ.

20 And when evening came, He sat down with the twelve.

21 And while they were eating, He said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you shall deliver Me up.”

22 And they were deeply grieved, and began to say to Him, each of them, “Master, is it I?”

23 And He answering, said, “He who has dipped his hand with Me in the dish, he shall deliver Me up.

24 Indeed, the Son of Aḏam goes as it has been written concerning Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Aḏam is delivered up! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.

25 And Yehuḏah – he who delivered Him up – answering, said, “Rabbi, is it I?” He said to him, “You have said it.”

26 And as they were eating, יהושע took bread, and having blessed, broke and gave it to the taught ones and said, “Take, eat, this is My body.”

27 And taking the cup, and giving thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.

28 For this is My blood, that of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many for the forgiveness of sins.

29 “But I say to you, I shall certainly not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on till that day when I drink it anew with you in the reign of My Father.”

30 And having sung a song, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Remember that Passover is the 14th of the First month. This was the 14th and therefore this was the Passover meal which Yeshua ate with them. However this was not the day when the animals were sacrificed. Yeshua this night symbolized what would happened to Him and told them plainly yet they did not fully understand until afterwards.

Mark 14

12 And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they were slaughtering the Pĕsah lamb, His taught ones said to Him, “Where do You wish us to go and prepare, for You to eat the Pĕsaḥ?

13 And He sent out two of His taught ones and said to them, “Go into the city, and there a man bearing a jar of water shall meet you, follow him.

14 And wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, Where is the guest room in which I am to eat the Pĕsaḥ with My taught ones?” ’

15 And he shall show you a large upper room, furnished, ready. Prepare for us there.

16 And His taught ones went out and came into the city, and found it as He said to them, and they prepared the Pĕsaḥ.

17 And evening having come, He came with the twelve.

18 And as they sat and ate, יהושע said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you who is eating with Me shall deliver Me up.”

19 And they began to be grieved, and to say to Him one by one, “Is it I?” And another, “Is it I?”

20 And He answering, said to them, “It is one of the twelve, he who is dipping with Me in the dish.

21 The Son of Aḏam is indeed going, as it has been written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Aḏam is delivered up! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.

22 And as they were eating, יהושע took bread, having blessed, broke it, gave it to them and said, “Take, eat, this is My body.”

23 And taking the cup, giving thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.

24 And He said to them, “This is My blood, that of the renewed covenant, which is shed for many.

25 Truly, I say to you, I shall certainly no more drink of the fruit of the vine till that day when I drink it anew in the reign of Elohim.

26 And having sung a song, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

We see that IMMEDIATELY after the Pesach Yeshua went to the Mount of Olives. During this Pesach Yeshua told them who would betray Him and how we should keep Passover.

Luke 22

And the Day of Unleavened Bread came when the Pĕsaḥ had to be slaughtered.

And He sent Kĕpha and Yoḥanan, saying, “Go and prepare the Pĕsaḥ for us to eat.”

And they said to Him, “Where do You wish us to prepare?”

10 And He said to them, “See, as you enter into the city, a man shall meet you carrying a jar of water. Follow him into the house he enters.

11 And you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, Where is the guest room where I might eat the Pĕsaḥ with My taught ones?” ’

12 And he shall show you a large, furnished upper room. Prepare it there.

13 And going they found it as He had said to them, and they prepared the Pĕsaḥ.

14 And when the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve emissaries with Him.

15 And He said to them, “With desire I have desired to eat this Pĕsaḥ with you before My suffering,

16 for I say to you, I shall certainly not eat of it again until it is filled in the reign of Elohim.”

17 And taking the cup, giving thanks, He said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves,

18 for I say to you, I shall certainly not drink of the fruit of the vine until the reign of Elohim comes.”

19 And taking bread, giving thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you, do this in remembrance of Me.”

20 Likewise the cup also, after supper, saying, “This cup is the renewed covenant in My blood which is shed for you.

21 “But see, the hand of him delivering Me up is with Me on the table.

22 “For indeed the Son of Aḏam goes as it has been decreed, but woe to that man by whom He is delivered up!”

23 And they began to ask among themselves, which of them it could be who was about to do this.

After reading the last account we can see that it was because Yeshua desired to eat the Pesach with them before He Himself became the Passover Lamb. It would be impossible for Yeshua to eat the Passover Lamb with them at the appropriate time after the Passover was slaughtered but this was still the 14th and was still Passover. Remember a Scriptural day is from sunset to sunset. Therefore this was Yeshua’s Last Supper and it was Yeshua eating the Pesach with his taught ones (disciples).

John does not give an account on this meal.

Next we will will see what happened at Gethsemany, the Mount of Olives.

Until next time.
